Prof. Michael Fried (Johns Hopkins University) was the 2015 Distinguished Guest Professor of the Graduate Center for Literary Research.

Michael Fried is one of the most influential art historians, art critics, and literary critics working today and has published richly and variously on a wide range of subjects, from Caravaggio to contemporary "art" photography and 19th-century realist novels.

SEMINAR

Professor Fried will teach a graduate seminar on Tuesday 1/13, 2:00-4:50 pm in Arts 1332 on "David, Géricault, Balzac." All students interested in the humanities are welcome to attend.

LECTURE

Professor Fried will give a public lecture, entitled "An Almost Unknown Masterpiece: Cecco del Caravaggio's Resurrection", on Wednesday, Janurary 14th at 4 pm at the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center McCune room (HSSB 6020, 6th floor). The lecture is free and open to the public.
