Giving Opportunities

Consider supporting Comparative Literature at UC Santa Barbara, a thriving interdepartmental program for independent minds and innovative thinkers whose work provides unique insights into world literatures and cultures. Your gift will assist us in enhancing the creative multilingual environment we strive to offer our undergraduate and graduate students as they study literature, language, history, art, media, gender, and religion across cultures and national boundaries. Your gift makes it possible for us to invite renowned scholars, writers and artists, attract more first-rate graduate students and support excellent programs in foreign literatures, interdisciplinary and translation studies.

Undergraduate Fellowships

The Comparative Literature Society is geared toward supporting a community of undergraduate majors interested in our field. In addition to organizing Undergraduate events such as conferences and round tables, it works to develop extracurricular events and travel fellowships.

The Ronald W. Tobin Scholarship for Travel & Study in France helps students enroll in study programs in france. Consider donating to the fund.

Graduate Support

In an effort to maintain the highest standards of research and instruction, we have made the support of graduate students one of our most important goals. Your gift in support of Graduate Fellowships helps us compete with other institutions and recruit more graduate students of outstanding caliber, particularly out of state and international candidates. You can also contribute to the following existing fellowships:

  • The Belin/Delattre fellowship supports Graduate students interested in French and Francophone studies.
  • The Rosati Family Fund supports Graduate students in their study of Romance languages.

Faculty Support

Endowed chairs and visiting professorships give enormous visibility to our program. Your gift will allow us to bring noted academics to our campus.

We also welcome gifts in support of General Education. Hiring a visiting fellow to teach in the core curriculum, sponsoring a departmental buyout to allow UCSB faculty to teach in the core, are all good ways to further the cause of humanities at UCSB.
