We are thrilled to announce that Jordan J. Tudisco (they/them) has been appointed as a UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley, where they will be working under the mentorship of Dr. Damon Young (he/him) in the Department of Film and Media and the Department of French. Jordan is currently in the final stages of completing their dissertation, titled “Staking Our Claim: Self-Making, World-Making, and Survival in Trans-Authored Narratives,” under the guidance of Professors Jennifer Tyburczy (she/her; chair), Lal Zimman (he/they), Maurizia Boscagli (she/her), and Matt Richardson (he/him).

During their tenure at UC Berkeley, Jordan will collaborate with Dr. Young to transform their dissertation into a monograph. They will also be adding a fifth chapter focusing on transsexuality as depicted in various mediums such as photographs, films like Naïla Guiguet’s Dustin and Alexis Langlois’s De la terreur, mes sœurs!

Additionally, Jordan will commence work on their next project, tentatively titled Trans Then & Now: an Archival and Ethnographic Study of French & Francophone Trans Resistance through Writing and Art. This project will explore historical trans figures such as François-Timoléon de Choisy, the Chevalier d’Eon, or Rachilde, alongside contemporary trans writers, artists, or activists like Sabrina Calvo, Xavier Gould, Nanténé Traoré, Sophie Labelle, or Habibitch.

Please join us in congratulating Jordan. Chapeau!
